This isn't a joke

But it should be.

Eight.  Eight. Eight freaking books on the wretched ACT and one set of 500 flash cards.

Have we gone too far?  yes.
Have we crossed the line?  Oh heavens yes; one too many times I'd
say.

I spent the day with my dad on Wednesday.
While we were at the gateway mall we decided to check out Barnes and Noble.  Where my father proceeded to buy me four more books.  I had gotted three in the mail previously this week.

I told him they really weren't necessary.  But, it's no use, the mans in love with preparation.

All I can say is it's a funny thing when your pile of all things ACT costs more than your prom dress.

Study for me.

double take

"Today is it.
are you living your life?
With passion, conviction, and pure joy?
What about love?
Do you seek it out? Do you believe
and soak it in?
Take the time now to breathe
and wonder,
and feel,
and rethink your life.
Your dreams.
You."

Life is a bit of a downer sometimes. And sometimes I feel like I'm just running and running and scrambling just to find my shoes in the morning. and as dumb as it sounds sometimes I forget to think.

For the past little bit I haven't been doing things quite right.I haven't been "self aware" as one of my friends puts it.

Well, I've been thinking
and I've started to rethink some things.
And I've come to a conclusion:

I am going change.

I'm no longer going to live my life with my eyes closed.
I want to be someone.  I'm not entirely sure who that person is yet either.  But I do know some qualities I would like to possess.
I'm currently working on it: the drift.  Not my usual definition for the term, but rather a drift from me to something better.  I want to be someone.  I want to be someone who has a honest, sincere, joyful heart.
And I am going to change.
And then I thought no better place to start this journey then the infamous World Wide Web.  So every week, or however so often, I'm going to make a challenge for the world and me.  Or the nine of you that read this blog.

In hopes I become a bit better.
In hopes I become someone with a bit more joy.
In hopes my heart will change.

Join me?
I dare you.

Psalms 17:15

4.24.2011

what e're thou art...

Sometimes I want, so badly, to be grown up.
Other times I pray, with all that I am, that I will stay young forever.

I wish, on occasion, to travel the world.  I wish to see far off places and becomes someone new along with the change of scenery.  The type of person who rides bicycles on the beach and sends post cards.
Then I see that I dread car rides and I'm not really adventurous.
I like things planned out, written down, numbered, and timed.

I hope to be independent.
But I sometimes wish someone would tell me who I'm going to be.

I dream to write.
Then I think: you can't do it.

I love to read. I'd love to just sit and read for hours. Just sit and read things that great, strong, brilliant people have said.  I'd love to listen and take in every ounce of detail I can.  Copying down every word.
But, I don't.
I instead spend too much time on waste.

I try to be sincere,
but in this world it is awfully hard to show people who you really are.

I guess what I'm saying in a terribly long, round about way, is that:

I want
I pray
I wish
I see
I like
I hope
I dream
I think
I love
I try

but

I just don't know, yet.

Good luck becoming who you are.

Because all good things must come to an end

You know the times you come home at midnight,
stay up til three,
sit alone in a dark room,
watch some terribly boring movie
Paying no attention to it but rather reminiscing in the hours past,
all the while stuffing your face with sugar of some sort?

Just because it feels like if you never go to sleep maybe the morning will never come and this time in your life will never have to pass.

Maybe, if you never had to shut those heavy eye lids, this feeling will last forever.

May I make a proposal?

Let's not sleep tonight.  Don't give in.
Let's boycott tomorrow.

Because no good deed goes unpunished.

We thought we'd wrap up this superb spring break with some cookies...

Enjoy :)

Because there's a party on the roof top top of the world.

So yesterday went kinda, a little something like this...

For starters, a mid day hike to the G

Then, a sick abuse of brownie points: cleaning the little sister's room.

Thirdly, panda.  Yum.

What would I do without Jump on it?

And this kid? yeah, he pretty much insults all my friends.

"Stop it, You creepy Scottish Freak."

"Are you a homosexual? why is your shirt purple?"

"Hey, how old are you?"... "Nine, and I have a girlfriend in Montana."

"Who is this kid?".. "Your face, that's who I am."

We love it.

Anyway.

Next, Slum, Five in the AM,
And cookies :)

I'm glad I came home from California just in time for the party..
and with a tan.

hahaha.
Psych.

It's All In The Hips.

Anyone watch the Masters???

If there is one thing that is classier than playing golf, it's watching golf.

Ricky = Babe     Tiger = Weenie      Rory = Underdog                      Schwartzel = Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Golf is a gentleman's game.

Because school is over rated.

Today, I went to Wyoming.
A place close to my heart, with many people close to my heart.
People who I'm very proud of.

and today, I felt very blessed for the family I belong to.
I felt thankful for the people I'm assosiated with.
For the name I've been blessed with.

Today I felt proud of the place I've come from.

and today, I partied.

With these guys at my grandma's house In wyoming,
A town of 564 people.  Give or take.
They came just to see how my uncle grew up.
Just to see the place he came from.

And I was proud, because it's the same place I came from.
The same people I've come from.
And I felt like it's my job to represent them well.

If there's one thing I could tell you, it's always represent the place you come from well.
Represent your family well.
Represent your name well.
Represent Christ's name well.
Because you can make a difference.

Oh, and let me tell you,
All these guys are pretty cool,
But they are not cowboys.
Imagine Arthur on a horse.
Ha.
