Here comes the sun (do do do do)

Its been raining, again,
which means damp seats and flat hair.
But with these summer showers, soggy socks, and muggy fires, I've learned something.

I've learned that city parks are much better when equipped with slip n' slides.
I've learned that falling asleep to the sound of rain drops makes for the most beautiful dreams.
I've learned that school supplies are always flammable, even amidst the drizzle.
I've learned that I should have mentioned rain boots on my birthday list
and I've learned that the sun doesn't always shine.

which I hate to say because who wants bad days?
but the good news is, there are great things to come once this has passed.

and guess what, there's even better news; there are great things to come today, too.

Push those clouds aside, the lights down there somewhere.  I get it now, and it's ashinin'.

I pledge allegience to the swag

"They like a little danger, they might not admit it But they on for the chase and they want us to come and get it. Plus they love a young thug over flowin with swagger and keeps his woman all drapped in Louis Vuitton Bags."

-I know what them girls like, Chris Breezy.

Clearly I'm a Gangster.

Shocker.

-

So today has been pretty good you could say.
I mean what could be better than a day with two tests and Mr. George Durfee?
Nothing that's what.

oh except... maybe.. a new car?

yep, you heard that right.  My dad may have purchased me and Lauren a car yesterday.  It may be guacamole green and used but I'm excited.

But, have no fear.  My dear old Andy isn't going anywhere.

Afternoon Delight

I found me another band, Noah and the Whale..
and I thought you should know, I like it.

good, eh? mmmm, right?
That's what I thought.

Dare To Be Elite.

fifteen) Someone I admire very much once told me, "Don't hold back, do what makes you happy."  this person has never been one to fear and she taught me a profound truth, when you hold back your talents and your hopes you also hold back all the success that would come with it.  Don't deny yourself that happiness.

That girl I admire very much is my eleven year old sister, she's kind of incredible.

I was just thinking about fear and people who have courage, I thought of Jessie.  She played the ukulele for our history class.  She had originally prepared for a seminary talent show and she said, "I can't sing.. my talent is being brave."

That's really special.  Special people allow others to see who they really are, and I think it's because they've decided they like who they are.

Now comes the moment of truth, do you want to be special?  I don't mean in your ambitions or flaws or shoe size, God already made you that way.  I mean special, as in elite.  Do you want to be above the world?

Then have no fear.  The one thing you could do to surpass the mediocre is simple, be confident, be daring, be audacious.  Don't hide yourself.  You have all the potential to be elite, so take it.  Make courage your talent and success your lifestyle.

Dear Friends,

Balance in all things
is the key to success.

Hint, hint.

De Facto

Nine) We live in an artificial time: our food, our toys, our facebooks. Nothing is real anymore.  We live in a time when honesty equates to vulnerability. We live in a time that makes it awfully hard for people to show their authentic selves.  But there are rare occasions when people will let you in to see their faults, loves, ambitions, dreams, hopes, fears.  I’ve learned to cherish those times and those people because they are scarce.

In other news...

It's nice to see you.

He might have been crazy,
But, at least he reminded us.

We're alive.

I don't mean to sound morbid or anything but,
It's more than we can say about tomorrow.

So wake up with a smile
and make today good.

'Cause everyone knows,
the day after the end of the world
is the very best.

Fatal

Somethings happening
It's all about to change
I'm on the brink of discovery
I can see it
All my dreams are right here

I'm on the edge
and it's cold
and I could do it
I can feel it
I have the chance

But, I'm trapped and I'm hiding and I'm alone.
Because there is no where else to go.

And the truth is,
I'm afraid of everything I can become.

Pouring

Oh? May? Psych.
I meant to say, Hello rain :)
I'm glad you could make it,
just in time for summer, too.

My car has a leak, a big leak.
So when it rains my seats get very wet.
Especially the drivers side.
Lucky me!
And when I drive the rain drips on my hand
then it moves straight to my pants.

So sometimes, when I'm alone, I just
embrace it and drive with the windows down.
I figure if I choose to get wet I won't be
as angry when it happens.

And sometimes,if we're being honest,
 I kinda enjoy it.

Youth is wasted on the wrong people.

                        .........

I think, sometimes, maybe... we forget that we are young.
And we forget the power that comes along with that youth.

All we hear is: Feed the dog.  Do your homework.  Go to bed.  Wake up.  Be nice.  Fold your arms.  Don't say that.  Speak up.  Don't hit her.  Sit up straight.  Eat your broccoli.  Clean your room.

When that's all you hear, it's hard to remember that to be young is to be free.  Sure we have lists to do, parents to obey, and obligations to attend to, but doesn't everyone?  There will never come a day when there isn't somewhere to be or someone to please.  Get used to it.

At least we are free.  Free in the sense that we have all the time in the world to dream, and do, and become.  We are free to fight and conquer.  The whole world is ahead of us.  Time is on our side.

Maybe we are young and naive.  Maybe we just don't know the truth about a cold world we've yet to encounter.  But, at least we still believe.  We still have faith that there are people out there really trying to do their best.  We still have faith in our abilities and our dreams.

There's a certain power that comes with that faith.  There's a power that comes with knowing you're choice and there's something of great importance in knowing there's something only you can accomplish.
It's the power to conquer the world.

Sure, we may be young and childish.  We may even be fools to believe we could possibly be someone of importance.  We may be crazy to think we could make any sort of difference.

But, we may just be great because of it.

Hold on to your faith.
Don't forget your dreams.
Stay young forever.
Be free.

double take

Today I went to the library to study.
I'm trying to be a bit more responsible and disciplined.  I'm trying to really learn... well amidst my attempt at accomplishing something my focus was skewed and I found myself at a park high on the hill.

I just sat and thought.  No particular inspirations came to mind. But a miracle did occure.
I could actually hear the birds chirping and dogs barking.
I saw little girls wishing on dandelions.
I could see the light reflecting on the lake miles away.
I could see the stream of cars moving steadily.
I watched the clouds.  I smelt the clean air.
And I noticed.  I noticed those gorgeous mountains.
Those same mountains that have surronded and watched over me for my miniscule 17 years compared to their thousands of millions.
I finally noticed something I've lacked to see my whole life.
My perspective changed because I took the time to notice something that was so obviously placed before my eyes.

But, It doesn't matter how obviously something is positioned if you don't have the right eyes to see it.

So, I was thinking maybe my first challeng to you is to take a second look.  It's time we humble ourselves and realize there is much more to be learned about this world.  It's time we open our eyes not just to look but to really see.

This week let's open our eyes to the world.  Without judgements, or stereotypes, or pre-concieved notions.  Let's stop the biased reasoning and open our minds to see honestly.

Whether it's a place, yourself, or the boy who sits alone at school, I challenge you to take a second look.  I challenge you to have the courage to see the world honestly, to see people honestly.

Change opinions, Cross boarders, Be honest!

Too often we jump to conclusions and the only thing that comes from it is limited opportunities.  Whether it's the chance to make a friend or learn something new.  Too often we let others see for us.

I'm sick of other people deciding what I think for me.  I'll make my own decisions, thanks.

The world isn't as black and white as they make it seem.
Have the courage to take a second look.

-Linds.

Oh, and I really like this.
